Late-’50s Standards set the template for the rock guitar, and originals now trade at collector prices. Under the finish, this reissue follows the ‘59 recipe closely. A mahogany body carries an AAA figured maple top, bound in cream. The Cobalt Blue and white stripes are sprayed in thin gloss nitrocellulose lacquer, which lets the guitar resonate and age naturally. The cream-bound rosewood fretboard has cellulose trapezoid inlays, a 12\" radius, and 22 medium jumbo frets on a 24.75\" scale. The nut is nylon, as on the originals, at 1 11\/16\" wide. Up top, the gloss black headstock has an inlaid logo and gold holly silkscreen, with Kluson Reissue single-ring, single-line tuners. The lower magnetic pull of Alnico III gives a sweeter top end and more headroom, and the unpotted build makes each pickup react to your touch the way vintage PAFs do.
