The Sitka spruce top wears a metallic champagne finish inspired by a late-’70s Porsche color. Depending on the light and the angle, it shifts through shades of pale gold. The back and sides are Indian rosewood. Paired with Sitka spruce, it delivers rich overtones, even balance from low to high, and a clear top end. A full-body gloss finish covers the guitar, and it weighs 4.8 lb. The appointments are chosen to complement the top: a firestripe pickguard, a green abalone rosette, rock maple body binding, and black/maple/rosewood top edge trim. A Venetian cutaway opens up access to the upper frets.

The Next Generation name covers what’s inside, too. Scalloped V-Class bracing with a relief rout lightens the interior voicing, adding warmth and resonance to the rosewood/spruce sound. The neck is Neo-Tropical mahogany with a Standard carve (.850" at the 1st fret, .890" at the 9th fret) and a satin finish, attached with Taylor’s Action Control neck joint. The West African Crelicam ebony fretboard has ebony binding, mother-of-pearl Windansea inlays, a 15" radius, and 20 frets. Scale length is 25.5", with a 1.75" synthetic bone nut. The ebony bridge holds a white Micarta saddle, and smoked nickel Taylor tuners sit on an ebony-veneer headstock with a matching Windansea inlay.

Plugged in, the 814ce LTD runs the Claria pickup system with volume, mid-contour, and tone controls. The mid-contour knob lets you shape the midrange to suit the room or the mix. Whether you’re a singer-songwriter who needs a stage-ready Grand Auditorium, a fingerstyle player who wants rosewood’s full overtone range, or a collector looking for a limited edition Taylor in a finish the standard 814ce doesn’t offer, this one fits. This 814ce LTD (Serial #1208116073) ships in a brown Taylor Deluxe Hardshell Case.
