Comes with Gretsch Hardshell case.

This 2006 Gretsch G6120SSU Brian Setzer Signature in Orange Stain (Serial #JT06031478) is the hollowbody built to the spec of the Stray Cats frontman who brought rockabilly back to the charts. Its JT serial prefix marks it as a Japanese-made Gretsch. The “U” in the model name means a gloss urethane finish, which holds up to gigging better than lacquer. The body is laminated maple under an arched, laminated flame maple top. The orange stain lets the flame show through, and white binding frames the body. It weighs 7.72 lb., light for a full hollowbody of this size.

The flame maple set neck has a C shape (.835" at the 1st fret, .920" at the 9th fret) with a gloss urethane finish. The bound ebony fretboard has mother-of-pearl thumbnail inlays, a 9.5" radius, and 22 medium jumbo frets. Other specs include a 24.6" scale and a 1.6875" synthetic bone nut. The shorter scale makes the fast rockabilly bends and double-stops easy. An Adjusto-Matic bridge on a rosewood base feeds a Bigsby B6 vibrato for classic Gretsch shimmer and dips. Sperzel locking tuners keep it in tune through heavy Bigsby use. The bound headstock is faced in orange-stained flame maple, with an inlaid horseshoe and Gretsch logo. A plexiglass pickguard with the Brian Setzer logo and nickel/chrome hardware complete the look.

A pair of TV Jones Brian Setzer Signature Filter’Tron humbuckers handle the sound. They have the bright, punchy twang and snappy low end that define the Setzer tone. The controls follow classic Gretsch layout: individual volumes for each pickup, a master volume, a 3-way pickup toggle, and a 3-position master tone switch. Whether you’re a rockabilly player chasing the Stray Cats sound, a swing or roots guitarist who wants a Bigsby-equipped hollowbody, or a Gretsch collector adding a Japanese-built Setzer to the lineup, this G6120SSU is ready. This used example is in very good condition, with some scratching and swirling in the finish, a handful of small dings, and light cloudiness on the hardware. (Serial #JT06031478) It comes with a Gretsch hardshell case. Order today from Brian’s Guitars.

Questions about this guitar?
