Serial Number: 0422023
Weight: 6.92 lbs.

“The DGT is a product a lot of miles down the road: a lot of gigs, a lot of records. It’s like picking up a vintage guitar. It sounds like a vintage guitar, and out of the box it’s ready to go. There’s a whole lot of thought gone into this. The DGT is pretty perfect to me.” – David Grissom

The PRS DGT in Black Gold Burst is the product of more than two decades of back-and-forth between Paul Reed Smith and David Grissom, and it shows in every decision. Mahogany body, a flame maple cap, and high gloss nitro over Black Gold Burst with scraped binding — the finish that lets the figure do the talking. This one weighs 6.92 lbs. The DGT starts from the McCarty platform but changes enough to stand on its own: its own neck carve, taller frets, pickups voiced specifically for it, and a control layout built around how Grissom actually plays.

The mahogany neck uses the DGT carve (27/32" at the 1/2 fret, 61/64" at the 12 1/2 fret), a shape Grissom shaped to his own hand over years of gigging. Set-neck construction, high gloss nitro, a rosewood fretboard with PRS moon inlays, 10" radius, 22 frets, 25" scale length, and a 1 21/32" PRS nut. The tall frets are the detail players notice first — more room under the string for vibrato and bends without pressing into the board. The PRS patented Gen II tremolo returns to pitch reliably enough to lean on, and Phase III locking tuners with faux bone buttons handle the rest. Nickel hardware throughout.

The DGT pickups were the long part of the project. Grissom and Paul worked through more than forty sets before they had it, and what came out is a genuinely vintage voice — open, articulate, and responsive to your hands rather than flattening everything into one level. Two individual volume controls and a master tone with a push/pull for coil taps mean you can balance both pickups against each other, blend them in the middle position, and drop into single-coil territory without touching a pedal. Whether you're a blues or roots player, a working guitarist who needs one instrument to cover a whole set, or a Core PRS buyer after the most player-focused model in the line, this is the one. This PRS DGT (Serial #0422023) includes a PRS ATA hardshell case. Order today from Brian's Guitars, your authorized PRS dealer.
