The Tom Anderson Drop Top Shorty in Maui Kazowie Sun Surf is a short-scale take on Anderson's most recognizable platform. Quilt maple drop top over an alder body, scraped top binding, and a high-gloss Maui Kazowie Sun Surf finish with a white back and a gloss white headstock wearing a custom turquoise and aqua logo. This one weighs 7.14 lbs. Anderson builds to a standard most shops never see — the finish gets the attention, but the fit and the fretwork are why players keep coming back.
The maple neck uses Anderson's Even-Taper carve (.810" at the 1st fret, .870" at the 12th), which is exactly what the name suggests — the same feel low on the neck as up top, no gradual thickening to fight through. Bolt-on construction with a satin finish for speed, a maple fretboard with black dot inlays, a 12" to 14" compound radius, 22 medium-jumbo frets, and a 1 11/16" Buzz Feiten nut. The Shorty designation refers to the 24.75" scale length, shorter than a standard Anderson and slinkier under the fingers.
