The 2017 Epiphone Joe Bonamassa 1958 "Amos" Korina Flying V is a faithful reproduction of one of the most significant guitars in Joe Bonamassa's collection — his original 1958 Flying V, one of only 91 built that year and first sold out of Arthur Amos's music store in Indianapolis. As Bonamassa's fifth Epiphone signature model, it was built alongside Epiphone's Nashville luthiers to match his vintage original down to the smallest detail, starting with a Korina (African Limba) body prized for its resonance. This used example weighs in at 7.6 lbs. and remains in excellent condition, with only a handful of light clearcoat scratches and some finish wear at the bridge and tailpiece — the pickguard, humbuckers, output jack cover, and part of the tailpiece still carry their factory protective plastic.
The Korina neck carries the 1958 Rounded C profile measured from Bonamassa's original (.845" at the 1st fret, .905" at the 12th), joined to the body with a deep-set neck joint for maximum sustain and resonance. An FSC-certified Blackwood fretboard with white dot inlays, a 12" radius, 22 medium jumbo frets, and a 24.75" scale length delivers a vintage-correct feel, backed by an adjustable truss rod under a gold-plated engraved cover referencing the guitar's namesake. Up top, the traditional Flying V headstock carries a raised Epiphone logo alongside Epiphone "Deluxe" tuners with tulip buttons, while gold-finished hardware — a period-correct "V"-style metal plate tailpiece mounted with escutcheon nails and a LockTone ABR-1 Tune-o-Matic bridge — rounds out the late-'50s look.
The "Amos" pairs an Epiphone ProBucker 2 in the neck with a ProBucker 3 in the bridge, PAF-inspired humbuckers built with sand-cast Alnico II magnets and 18% nickel silver bases and covers for authentic late-'50s humbucker tone, vacuum wax potted to keep things quiet. Dual volume controls, a master tone, CTS potentiometers, and a 3-way toggle with an amber cap under black Top Hat knobs give players full control over the voicing. Whether you're chasing vintage Flying V tone for blues and classic rock or collecting one of Bonamassa's rarest signature builds, this "Amos" delivers both. This Korina "Amos" Flying V (Serial #17102302247) includes the original Epiphone Joe Bonamassa hardshell case, factory accessories, and hand-signed Certificate of Authenticity.
