Gibson ES-335 50s Vintage Tobacco Burst
Gibson ES-335 50s Vintage Natural
Serial Number: 222560264
Weight: 8.64 lbs.
The Gibson ES-335 50s in Vintage Natural (Serial #222560264) brings back the features of the first ES-335s from the late 1950s, the original “dot neck” era players still chase today. It’s one of Gibson’s 2 decade-specific ES-335 models, the same approach behind the Les Paul Standard 50s and 60s. The thinline semi-hollow body is 3-ply maple/poplar/maple around a solid maple centerblock. The centerblock adds sustain and cuts down on feedback at volume, so you get the airy semi-hollow tone without the howl of a full hollowbody. Single-ply cream binding trims the top and back, and the gloss nitrocellulose lacquer finish lets the natural maple show through. It weighs 8.64 lb.
The mahogany set neck has the fuller Rounded C profile (.850" at the 1st fret, .955" at the 12th fret) of those early ES-335s, which gives the player something more substantial to hold onto. A bound rosewood fretboard carries dot inlays, a 12" radius, and 22 medium jumbo frets on a 24.75" scale. The Graph Tech nut is 1.705" wide, and when paired with Vintage Deluxe tuners with Keystone buttons keeps the tuning stable. The ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic bridge and aluminum stopbar tailpiece add sustain and allow full action and intonation adjustment. The gloss black headstock carries a mother-of-pearl Gibson logo and crown inlay, and the hardware is nickel.
The ES-335 50s is loaded with a pair of Custombucker humbuckers with Alnico 3 magnets, voiced to capture the sound of the original Patent Applied For pickups from the late ’50s. Each pickup has its own hand-wired 500k volume and tone controls, plus a 3-way selector, covering the warm neck tones, bright bridge bite, and in-between blends the ES-335 is known for. A ‘59-style 5-ply black long pickguard and gold Top Hat knobs with dial pointers finish the vintage look. Whether you’re a blues player after that classic semi-hollow growl, a jazz or session player who needs warm, articulate cleans, or a collector who wants the look and feel of a 1958 dot neck, the ES-335 50s delivers. (Serial #222560264) It comes with a Gibson hardshell case. Order today from Brian’s Guitars, your authorized Gibson dealer.
