Nash PB-63 Black
Nash PB-63 Black
Serial Number: NG-6592
Weight: 8.6 lbs.
The Nash PB-63 in Black is a hand-built take on the 1963 Precision Bass, and this particular one carries an uncommon configuration: a Lollar 70s SR bass humbucker instead of the standard split-coil. That pairing — early '60s body and neck specs with a '70s-voiced Lollar pickup — is not something you'll find on most PB-63s, and it's the reason to look twice at this one. The alder body wears medium-aged nitrocellulose lacquer in black with a 4-ply tortoise pickguard and nickel relic hardware, so it reads as a bass that's been gigged for decades rather than a fresh build. Weight is 8.6 lbs., and the natural headstock carries the black Nash Guitars logo.
The maple neck is a "C" profile (.865" at the 1st fret, .910" at the 12th fret) finished in aged nitro, joined with 4-bolt construction. A rosewood fretboard with clay dot inlays and a 10" radius holds 20 medium jumbo frets across a standard 34" scale, with a 1.625" Tusq nut. Nash builds these one at a time, so every one comes out with its own character in the aging and the feel. A vintage-style top-load bridge with four threaded saddles handles intonation, and Gotoh Res-O-Lite GB528 vintage-style tuners keep the headstock light — a real consideration on a P-Bass, where neck dive is the usual complaint.
The Lollar 70s SR humbucker is the voice of this bass. It's hand-wound, hum-free, and puts out the thicker, more aggressive midrange associated with '70s Precision tone rather than the rounder, softer early-'60s voice. Run through a single volume and tone, it's a direct, no-nonsense setup that sits in a mix without fighting for space. Whether you're a rock or soul player who wants P-Bass thump with more grind on tap, a session bassist looking for one instrument that tracks clean and loud, or a collector after a Nash with a spec you won't see again, this PB-63 covers it. This Nash PB-63 (Serial #NG-6592) includes its Nash alligator hardshell case. Order today from Brian's Guitars, your authorized Nash dealer.
