The PRS Private Stock 30th Anniversary “Birds of a Feather” Hollowbody I Limited in Frostbite Glow (Serial #PSLTD00265) is 1 of just 96 built to mark 30 years of the Private Stock program. It’s also the first Hollowbody to carry TCI pickups. A Private Stock flame maple top sits over a swamp ash back, finished in high-gloss nitro. The Frostbite Glow stain brings out the flame, and scraped binding leaves a natural maple edge around the top. The fretboard pairs Gaboon ebony with flame maple, stained to match. At 4.9 lb., it’s very light, even for a hollowbody.

The fretboard inlay is the centerpiece. This limited run also marks 10 years of the “Birds of a Feather” inlay, designed by Paul Miles, PRS Director of Manufacturing. Here it appears in reverse: stained maple birds rise from the base of the fretboard into a Gaboon ebony sky. The design reads clearly from across a room and stays understated up close. The headstock has a Gaboon ebony veneer with a Private Stock “Birds of a Feather” eagle, and the truss rod cover repeats the ebony and flame maple pairing.

The flame maple neck has PRS’s Pattern carve (7/8" at the 1/2 fret, 61/64" at the 12 1/2 fret) and a high-gloss finish. It’s set into the body, which adds sustain and warmth. The fretboard has 22 PRS frets and a 10" radius, with a 1 11/16" bone nut. A PRS stoptail with brass inserts and steel studs anchors the strings, and PRS Phase III non-locking tuners with wing buttons hold tuning. Hardware is a smoked black and nickel hybrid finish.

TCI pickups in both positions define the sound. They’re voiced for balance and clarity, with humbucker fullness and the vocal, touch-sensitive character of single coils and soapbars. The hollow body adds air and openness. 2 mini-toggle EQ switches, a feature Paul Reed Smith favors, work as tuned high-pass filters. Flip them on to trim the low end for more clarity and cut. The switches debuted on the Private Stock John McLaughlin Limited in 2023 and have become a feature of TCI-equipped guitars since. Controls are volume, tone, and a 3-way toggle, covering everything from full jazz chords to a biting, rootsy edge with gain.
