The Used 2022 Collings I-30 LC in Aged Blonde is a fully hollow, P90-loaded electric from one of the most exacting boutique builders, and at 5.76 lbs. it's remarkably light even by hollowbody standards. The laminated maple body wears aged high-gloss nitrocellulose lacquer in blonde with ivoroid binding, a finish treatment that gives the guitar the softened, slightly amber look of an instrument that's been played for decades rather than years. The LC designation marks it as the laminate construction version, which is the point rather than a compromise — laminate maple resists feedback far better than a carved solid top, which is exactly what makes this the hollowbody you can actually turn up. This 2022 example is in near-mint condition with no wear beyond the original aged finish, and it comes with its original hardshell case.

The Honduran mahogany neck is carved to a Medium-Fat "C" (.865" at the 1st fret, .995" at the 12th fret) under aged high-gloss nitro — substantial without being a handful, the profile most players land on when they try Collings' range. It joins the body with an extra-long mortise and tenon, a joint Collings specs for maximum coupling and stability on a hollow instrument. The rosewood fretboard is bound in non-grained ivoroid and carries mother-of-pearl dot inlays over a 12" radius, with 22 medium jumbo frets, a 24 7/8" scale, and a 1 11/16" bone nut. An ebony headstock veneer with the mother-of-pearl Collings logo, Gotoh tuners with Collings-branded buttons, and a Kluson ABR-1 bridge with matching Kluson stop tailpiece in gold hardware complete a package where every component was chosen rather than defaulted to.

The pickups are where this one separates from every other hollowbody in its class: a matched pair of ThroBak 55/56 P90s with custom phenolic bobbins, built to the construction methods and materials of the mid-'50s originals rather than approximated with modern shortcuts. P90s in a hollow maple body is a combination with real history behind it — thick, throaty midrange with the bite and grind that single-coils give you and humbuckers smooth over, all sitting on top of the airy, resonant response only a hollow body produces. The dual-volume, dual-tone layout with a 3-way toggle gives independent control of each pickup for genuine blend work. Whether you're a jazz or blues player after warm, woody tone with teeth, a roots and Americana guitarist who needs an archtop that holds up at volume, or a collector who follows Collings builds and boutique pickup makers, this one is a serious instrument. This Collings I-30 LC Aged Blonde (Serial #22602) includes its original hardshell case. Order today from Brian's Guitars.
