The 2017 Epiphone Joe Bonamassa Signature "Treasure" Firebird I in Tobacco Sunburst is a faithful recreation of one of the most storied guitars in Joe Bonamassa's collection — the rare, single-pickup 1963 Firebird gifted to him that he calls "Treasure." Built with Epiphone's Nashville luthiers, this limited-run outfit brings back the original mahogany Reverse Firebird body and thru-neck construction that defined the model when it debuted at the Kalamazoo factory in the early '60s. This used example is in excellent condition at 7.14 lbs., showing only light play wear — a handful of small clearcoat scratches on the body and minor wear in the hardware finish — with the original Epiphone Firebird gigbag included.
The 9-piece laminated Mahogany/Walnut neck carries a period-correct early-1960s Rounded C profile (.865" at the 1st fret, .960" at the 12th), finished with a dual-action adjustable truss rod for easier setup than the vintage original. A rosewood fingerboard with a 14" radius, 22 medium jumbo frets, classic dot inlays, and a 24.75" scale length keeps the feel vintage-correct and comfortable, while a 1 11/16" nut rounds out a neck that plays as good as it looks. The Reverse Firebird headstock carries Kluson reissue Firebird/Banjo tuners at a precise 12:1 ratio for smooth, accurate tuning, paired with an adjustable wraparound "Lightning Bar" bridge and tailpiece in nickel hardware.
At the heart of the "Treasure" is Epiphone's ProBucker FB720, reverse-engineered to mid-'60s Gibson Firebird pickup specs with Alnico II bar-magnet blades and a steel reflector plate for a brighter, more touch-sensitive voice than the mini-humbuckers found on most Firebird reissues — all controlled through simple Master Volume and Master Tone knobs. Whether you're a blues-rock player chasing that reverse-body snap and sustain or a Bonamassa collector after one of his rarest signature builds, this Firebird delivers the tone and the story. This Tobacco Sunburst "Treasure" Firebird I (Serial #1701200512) includes the original Epiphone Firebird gigbag. Order today from Brian's Guitars, your authorized Epiphone dealer.
