This 1978 Ibanez MC-200 Musician in Natural (Serial #D786307) is a neck-through solidbody from Ibanez’s late-’70s Musician series. The body pairs an ash top and back with a mahogany core, under a gloss finish that shows off the natural grain. It weighs 9.26 lb., with the density and sustain you’d expect from a neck-through build of this era.
The 5-piece maple and walnut neck runs the full length of the body and has a full Musician carve (.840" at the 1st fret, .920" at the 12th fret). With no neck joint, notes sustain longer, and your hand moves to the upper frets without running into a heel. The rosewood fretboard has mother-of-pearl dot inlays, a 9.5" radius, and 24 jumbo frets on a 24.75" scale, with a 1.71" hybrid brass/bone nut. The headstock has an ash veneer, an inlaid Ibanez logo, and a brass “Musician” truss rod cover. The Gibraltar tune-o-matic-style bridge pairs with a Gibraltar tailpiece wearing the Ibanez cloud ornament, and Velve-Tune II tuners and chrome hardware round it out.
A pair of Ibanez Super 88 humbuckers runs through 2 volume controls, 2 tone controls, and a 3-way toggle, so you can set each pickup’s level and voice on its own and blend them in the middle position. Whether you’re a rock player who wants thick humbucker tone with long sustain, a player who prefers a full neck, or a collector of ’70s Ibanez, the MC-200 has a lot to offer. As a used vintage instrument, it’s in very good condition with honest wear for its age: a handful of dings and clearcoat scratches, one larger ding on the back, a small ding on the bass-side fretboard edge at the 5th fret, one small dings, some scratches on the headstock veneer, some tarnish on the truss rod cover, and light wear on the bridge and tailpiece. This one (Serial #D786307) comes with its original Ibanez hardshell case. Order today from Brian’s Guitars.
