1966 Silvertone 1452 Hornet Red Sunburst
Weight: 7.2 lbs.
Condition: Very good vintage condition, 1966 model. Body shows some nicks/dings and checking from age. Comes with non-original gigbag.

This 1966 Silvertone 1452 Hornet in Red Sunburst is a vintage piece from Silvertone's classic Sears-era lineup, built with a solidbody mahogany construction in the brand's distinctive silhouette shape. At 7.2 lbs., this example shows honest wear consistent with its age — some nicks, dings, and finish checking on the body — very good vintage condition for a nearly 60-year-old guitar. It comes with a non-original gigbag.

The mahogany neck carries a comfortable C-shape profile (.800" at the 1st fret, .850" at the 12th), bolted to the body for classic mid-'60s feel. A rosewood fretboard with white dot inlays, a 12" radius, 20 frets, and a 24.5" scale length keeps things vintage-correct and easy to play, backed by a wide 1.726" aluminum nut and a 4-ply tortoise pickguard. The black headstock carries 6-in-line bar tuners, while a Silvertone/Sears 2-screw tremolo in nickel/chrome hardware delivers that classic period-correct wobble.

A pair of lipstick-tube single-coil pickups gives this Hornet its bright, jangly, unmistakably vintage voice — the same lo-fi charm that made these Sears-era guitars a favorite for surf, garage, and early rock and roll — controlled through dual volume, dual tone, and a 3-way switch for real tonal flexibility. Whether you're a collector after an authentic '60s Silvertone, a player chasing vintage lipstick-pickup tone for surf and garage rock, or someone drawn to guitar history and the Sears catalog era, this Hornet delivers. This Red Sunburst 1966 Silvertone 1452 Hornet includes a non-original gigbag. Order today from Brian's Guitars.
