1970 Gibson SG Standard Cherry
1970 Gibson SG Standard Cherry
Here’s a chance to grab a vintage Gibson with serious character—without the five-figure price tag. This 1970 Gibson SG Standard in Cherry delivers the feel and tone of an early 70's SG, with all the vibe and none of the golden-era markup.
Featuring a mahogany body, bound rosewood fingerboard, witch hat knobs, and a set of early patent-sticker humbuckers, this SG has all the right ingredients. The neck has a comfortable "C" profile, and the Lyre Vibrola tailpiece adds both looks and feel—even if you don’t use it much, it belongs there. There’s honest play wear throughout, but nothing that takes away from the experience—it’s stable, resonant, and ready to go.
As prices for ’60s SGs continue to climb, early ’70s SGs like this one offer a sweet spot for vintage tone and cool looks.
