Dual Stage Amplification Flora Boost MK1
Dual Stage Amplification Flora Boost MK1
The Dual Stage Amplification Flora Boost MK1 is a handmade boost pedal built in New Haven, CT, just down the road from our shop. It puts four boost voicings on one pedal, including two takes on the Echoplex preamp. The Echoplex was designed as a tape echo, but players kept it on their rigs just for the way its preamp made an amp sound bigger, brighter, and more alive. The Flora Boost brings that idea to the pedalboard and adds two modern JFET voicings.
The layout is simple: 2 knobs and a footswitch. Level sets your output. Era is a 4-position control that changes the voicing of the circuit. Setting 1 has the lowest gain and is closest to an Echoplex EP-3, for a subtle lift that fattens your tone without changing its character. Setting 2 is closest to the later EP-4, with a bit more gain and a brighter top end. Setting 3 is the builder’s favorite: a JFET boost that hits harder than setting 2 but stays balanced across the frequency range. Setting 4 uses the same JFET boost in a full-range voicing, which suits thinner-sounding guitars that need more body and low end.
Use the Flora Boost as an always-on tone shaper, as a clean volume jump for solos, or in front of a driven amp to push it into thicker overdrive. Whether you’re a Strat or Tele player who wants more weight from single coils, a classic-rock player chasing the Echoplex preamp sound, or a pedal collector who supports small Connecticut builders, the Flora Boost MK1 earns a spot on the board. It is handmade in New Haven, CT. Order today from Brian’s Guitars.
