Epiphone Inspired by Gibson Custom 1957 SJ-200 Reissue Antique Natural
Serial Number: 26061500949
Weight: 5.56 lbs.
The Epiphone 1957 SJ-200 Reissue in Antique Natural (Serial #26061500949) is part of the Inspired by Gibson Custom collection, built in collaboration with Gibson Custom. It recreates the 1957 Super Jumbo at a price more players can reach. Gibson introduced the SJ-200 in 1937, and its size, projection, and stage presence quickly earned it the nickname “the King of the Flat-Tops.” Early examples used rosewood, but in 1947 the back and sides switched to maple, the spec this reissue follows. Over the decades, the SJ-200 has been played by singing cowboys, folk singers, country stars, and rock icons, and vintage examples are sought after by collectors. This one is all solid wood. A thermally aged solid Sitka spruce top sits over solid figured maple back and sides, with multi-ply binding on the top and back and a multi-ring rosette. It’s finished in Antique Natural vintage gloss and weighs 5.56 lb.
The neck is 2-piece flame maple with a walnut center stripe. It has a C profile (.850" at the 1st fret, .950" at the 9th fret) and is glued into the body with a dovetail joint. The cream-bound Indian rosewood fretboard carries mother-of-pearl graduated crown inlays, a 12" radius, and 20 standard frets. Scale length is 25.5", with a 1.72" bone nut. Scalloped X-bracing keeps the top responsive. The rosewood SJ-200 Moustache bridge has mother-of-pearl bar inlays and uses a compensated bone saddle and bone bridge pins. The engraved celluloid pickguard carries the classic SJ-200 graphics. The bound Gibson open-book headstock has a mother-of-pearl Epiphone logo and Gibson crown, and the back of the headstock has a stinger, which is unique to the Antique Natural version, along with an etched Inspired by Gibson Custom Double Diamond logo. Gold Epiphone Deluxe tuners complete the hardware.
For the stage and studio, a Baggs Element Bronze VTC under-saddle pickup and active preamp come pre-installed, with volume and tone controls mounted in the soundhole. They’re out of sight and within easy reach. Whether you’re a country or Americana strummer who wants that big jumbo voice, a singer-songwriter who needs a guitar that fills a room, or a vintage fan who wants the look and build of a ‘57 SJ-200 without the vintage price tag, this reissue delivers. This SJ-200 (Serial #26061500949) ships in a Red Line-inspired hardshell case with Inspired by Gibson Custom graphics. Order today from Brian’s Guitars, your authorized Epiphone dealer.
