The Gibson Custom Shop Murphy Lab 1956 Les Paul Standard Bigsby in Ebony Light Aged (Serial #6 6067) is Gibson’s tribute to the famous black Les Paul played by one of rock’s most influential Canadian-American artists. The Murphy Lab Light Aged treatment gives the gloss nitrocellulose finish, cream binding, and nickel hardware a subtle played-in look, like a guitar with years of stage time behind it. Underneath is a sorted mahogany body with a plain maple top, finished in solid Ebony. This one weighs 9.1 lbs.

The mahogany neck has Gibson’s 1950s Chunky D carve (.900" at the 1st fret, 1.00" at the 12th). It’s a full, rounded neck that fills your hand, and the set-neck joint gives you the sustain and resonance mid-’50s Les Pauls are known for.
