The Gibson Custom Les Paul Custom in Pelham Blue is a chambered take on the Les Paul Custom, with f-holes cut into a mahogany body finished in gloss nitrocellulose lacquer. Pelham Blue on a Custom is a striking combination — the finish reads bright and saturated against multi-ply white binding, and the black multi-ply pickguard keeps the contrast sharp. Chambering brings the weight to 8.62 lbs. and opens up the response, adding air and a looser low end compared to a solid Custom.
The mahogany neck carries a Medium C profile (.850" at the 1st fret, .995" at the 12th), set into the body with the deep tenon joint the Custom is built around. An ebony fretboard runs a 12" radius across 22 medium jumbo frets with mother-of-pearl block inlays, over a 24.75" scale with a 1 11/16" nylon nut. Ebony is the traditional Custom board material and it earns the spot — harder and denser than rosewood, with a tighter attack and a snappier top end. The headstock carries the mother-of-pearl Gibson logo and split diamond inlay with cream multi-ply binding. Hardware is an ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic with a stoptail tailpiece and Grover Rotomatic tuners.
Electronics are Gibson's 490R in the neck and 498T in the bridge, wired to the traditional two volume, two tone, and 3-way toggle layout.
