The Gibson Custom Hummingbird Elegant Koa reimagines one of the most recognized acoustic guitars ever built — the original square-shoulder dreadnought, introduced in 1960 — with a tonewood you won't find in the standard Hummingbird lineup. Part of Gibson Custom's Artisan Series, this build pairs koa back and sides with a AAA Sitka spruce top under scalloped X bracing, finished in a rich Honey Burst gloss nitrocellulose lacquer with cream binding and multi-ply purfling. Koa brings a bright, maple-like sparkle that warms and deepens with play, and a three-rope marquetry strip down the center of the back adds a classic, handcrafted detail rarely seen outside the Custom Shop.
