Gibson Hummingbird Original Heritage Cherry Sunburst
Gibson Hummingbird Original Heritage Cherry Sunburst
Serial Number: 22296084
Weight: 4.72 lbs.
The Gibson Hummingbird Original in Heritage Cherry Sunburst (Serial #22296084) is Gibson’s take on the Hummingbird as it was first built. Gibson introduced the Hummingbird in 1960 as its first square-shoulder acoustic, and it has been a favorite of players in nearly every genre since. This version has a Sitka spruce top over mahogany back and sides, with traditional hand-scalloped X-bracing. The bracing gives it a full, responsive voice that works for hard-strummed chords and single-note lines alike. The Heritage Cherry Sunburst is finished in gloss nitrocellulose lacquer, with cream multi-ply binding and a multi-ring rosette. The tortoise pickguard carries the Hummingbird graphic. It weighs 4.72 lb.
The mahogany neck has a Rounded profile (.875" at the 1st fret, .920" at the 9th fret) and a gloss nitro finish. It’s joined to the body with a compound dovetail joint, a traditional build that ties the neck firmly to the body. The cream-bound rosewood fretboard has mother of pearl parallelogram inlays and a 12" radius. It carries 20 standard frets on a 24.75" scale. The bone nut measures 1.72", which gives your fretting hand room for clean fingerpicking and open chords. The gloss black headstock has a mother of pearl Gibson logo, a crown inlay, and the Hummingbird truss rod cover. Gold Gotoh keystone tuners match the vintage styling. At the other end, a rosewood belly-up bridge holds a bone saddle.
For the stage, the Hummingbird Original has the Baggs HiFi DNA system, which is custom-voiced and exclusive to Gibson. Two lightweight sensors mount on the bridge plate inside the guitar, each with its own preamp. It plugs in with a natural, full-bodied sound and leaves the unplugged tone unchanged. Feedback resistance is on par with an under-saddle pickup. The volume and tone controls sit just inside the soundhole, where you can reach them easily and the audience won’t see them. Whether you’re a singer-songwriter, a worship leader, or a player who wants a classic Gibson acoustic for the studio and stage, the Hummingbird Original is ready to work. It comes with a hardshell case (Serial #22296084).
