This PRS Custom 24-08 in Indigo is a Limited Edition Core guitar built on the platform that started it all — Paul Reed Smith's original 1985 Custom 24 — dressed up here with a Private Stock finish and a set of rare appointments not found on a standard Custom 24. A curly maple 10-top sits over a mahogany back under a high-gloss nitrocellulose finish, with the Indigo Private Stock color giving the figured cap real depth and shimmer. At 7.58 lbs., it strikes the same balanced feel PRS built the original Custom 24 around.
Where this one departs from a standard Custom 24 is the neck: a flame maple Pattern Thin carve (53/64" at the 1st fret, 57/64" at the 12th fret) in place of the usual mahogany, set-neck glued for sustain and easy upper-fret access across all 24 frets. The fretboard is an exotic touch, too — Ziricote, a dense, richly figured tonewood rarely seen outside PRS's top-tier builds — carrying PRS's signature bird inlays at a 10" radius, PRS standard fret wire, 25" scale length, and a 1 11/16" nut. PRS's patented Gen III tremolo and Phase III locking tuners with wing buttons keep tuning rock-solid, finished here in a stealthy Smoked Black hardware that suits the Indigo top.
