The PRS Private Stock 30th Anniversary "Birds of a Feather" Hollowbody I Limited in Frostbite Glow is one of just 96 that will be built, marking three decades of the Private Stock program. It also carries a first: TCI pickups in a Hollowbody platform. A Private Stock flame maple top over a swamp ash back is finished in high-gloss nitrocellulose, and the luminous Frostbite Glow stain ties the whole instrument together — the deep black of Gaboon ebony set against the natural figure of flame maple, with scraped binding and the frostbite stain carried through to the fretboard, neck, headstock veneer, and truss rod cover. At 4.88 lbs., it's remarkably light even by hollowbody standards, and it hangs like nothing at all through a long set.

The inlay is the centerpiece. This limited edition also marks ten years of the Birds of a Feather fretboard inlay designed by Paul Miles, PRS Director of Manufacturing and head of Private Stock, and it presents the design in reverse: stained maple birds rising from the base of the fingerboard into an ebony sky. It reads clearly from across a room without shouting, which is exactly the balance of artistry and restraint Private Stock is known for. The headstock carries a Gaboon ebony veneer with a Private Stock "Birds of a Feather" eagle, and the truss rod cover repeats the ebony and flame maple pairing.

The flame maple neck is carved to PRS's Pattern profile (7/8" at the 1/2 fret, 61/64" at the 12 1/2 fret) with a high-gloss finish, joined to the body with traditional PRS set-neck construction for the sustain and warmth that a glued joint gives. The Gaboon ebony and flame maple fretboard, stained Frostbite, carries 22 PRS frets over a 10" radius, finished with a 1 11/16" bone nut. A PRS stoptail bridge with brass inserts and steel studs anchors the strings for maximum energy transfer into the hollow body, and PRS Phase III non-locking tuners with wing buttons keep it stable. The smoked black and nickel hybrid hardware finish is a Private Stock detail you won't find on production models.

TCI pickups in both positions are the tonal story here. Tuned for balance and clarity, they deliver the fullness of a humbucker while keeping the expressive, vocal character players associate with single-coils and soapbars — rich, articulate, and highly responsive to touch. The Hollowbody I chambering adds natural openness and air on top of that.
