The Paul Reed Smith Private Stock McCarty 594 in Reptile is a true one-of-a-kind — the very first guitar to wear the Reptile finish, developed by Brian's Guitars in collaboration with the PRS Private Stock team. The wood set was hand-picked by the Brian's Guitars staff at the PRS factory in May 2025, starting with a spectacular Private Stock Quilted Maple top over an African Mahogany body with matching backplates, its natural bark area filled with clear resin to complete the body shape — a detail that celebrates the raw character of this exceptional wood. Finished in high-gloss nitro with scraped binding, this McCarty 594 (PS #12275) is Private Stock artistry at its most adventurous.
The neck is just as extraordinary: curly maple in PRS's beloved Pattern Vintage carve (7/8" at the 1/2 fret, 63/64" at the 12 1/2 fret) with a quilt maple fretboard, high-gloss nitro finish stained to match the Reptile top, and offset mini bird inlays in branded malachite with gold mother-of-pearl outlines. The quilt maple headstock features the Private Stock Eagle in natural quilt with gold mother-of-pearl outline, hand-signed by Paul Reed Smith, plus a matching Reptile-stained truss rod cover and curly maple binding. A 10" radius, 22 frets, 24.594" scale length, bone nut, and 1 11/16" nut width deliver the classic McCarty 594 feel that vintage-minded players love.
Electronics and hardware complete the package with a 58/15LT humbucker in the neck, uncovered 59/09 in the bridge, and the full 594 control layout — dual volume, dual tone with push/pull coil-tapping, and a 3-way toggle — for everything from vintage PAF warmth to chimey single-coil tones. Smoked black hardware, including the PRS two-piece vintage-style bridge/tailpiece and Phase III locking tuners with ebony buttons, sets off the finish perfectly.
