The PRS SE Silver Sky Defender Limited Edition in Petra Copper is a first-of-its-kind collaboration between John Mayer and Land Rover, pulling from Defender's modern color palette to give the SE Silver Sky a bold new look while keeping the feel that made the model a hit. Built with a poplar body and a high-gloss polyurethane finish in the warm, coppery Petra Copper hue, this limited run pairs the finish with a black pickguard — a first for any Silver Sky — plus a custom neck plate unique to the Defender Color Collection and a matching custom PRS/Land Rover gig bag. It's a guitar built to occupy the space between tool and inspiration, just like the vehicle that inspired it.
The bolt-on maple neck carries PRS's 635JM shape (53/64" at the 1/2 fret, 63/64" at the 12 1/2 fret) with a fast satin finish that keeps the feel quick under the hand, joined to a rosewood fretboard with signature PRS bird inlays, an 8.5" radius, and 22 frets. A 25.5" scale length and 1.625" nut with synthetic bone deliver familiar, stable tuning, backed by a 2-point steel tremolo and vintage-style non-locking tuners finished in nickel/chrome for classic vibrato feel and smooth string pull.
