The PRS Silver Sky Defender in Willow Green is a limited-edition collaboration between PRS, John Mayer, and Land Rover Defender, translating one of Defender's most recognizable heritage paint colors onto the Silver Sky platform. Willow Green is a nod to Defender's roots in the countryside — muddy lanes, stone walls, and hedgerow fields where the vehicle first proved itself, and now the color story behind an alder body with a matching painted headstock, a detail reserved for only select limited-edition Silver Sky runs. This colorway is capped at just 500 guitars.
The maple neck wears the 635JM profile (27/32" at the 1/2 fret, 31/32" at the 12 1/2 fret) with a bolt-on joint for the snappy, articulate feel Silver Sky players know well. A rosewood fretboard with small bird inlays runs 22 tall/narrow frets across a 7.25" radius and 25.5" scale length, with a 1 21/32" bone nut for a wide, comfortable playing surface. The reverse headstock is painted to match the Willow Green body for a fully coordinated look, and a PRS Gen II-style steel tremolo with bent saddles, vintage-style locking tuners, and nickel hardware round out the classic single-coil-platform build.
Electronics are built around a trio of 635JM single-coils — including a reverse-polarity middle pickup for authentic quack in the in-between switch positions — wired to one volume, two tone controls, and a 5-way blade selector for the full range of vintage-inspired single-coil tones the Silver Sky is known for. It's a guitar built for the Mayer devotee, the vintage single-coil chaser, and the collector after a piece of this exact Defender collaboration. Each Silver Sky Defender Willow Green ships in a PRS ATA molded case with a custom "DEFENDER" badge and a unique neck plate inscribed with its color name and "1 of 500," marking its place in the run.
