The Taylor C12ce 12-Fret Grand Concert in quilted Big Leaf maple (Serial #1203256090) is a Taylor Custom build with the looks and voice to match. The back and sides are quilted Big Leaf maple in a gloss Lilac Wine finish with a shaded edgeburst. A figured Hawaiian koa Simons wedge splits the four-piece back. The Lutz spruce top carries a transparent white edgeburst. Taylor's Advanced Performance bracing is set with traditional hot hide glue, which adds warmth and fills out the midrange. Koa and paua appear throughout: figured koa body binding, paua purfling, and a single-ring paua rosette trimmed in ebony and koa. A Florentine cutaway opens up the upper frets, and the whole guitar weighs 4.6 lb.
The neck is hard rock maple, finished in Lilac Wine gloss to match the body, with a Standard profile (.825" at the 1st fret, .925" at the 9th). Because the body joins the neck at the 12th fret, your fretting hand sits closer to your picking hand. The short 24-7/8" scale lowers string tension, so bends and stretches come easily, which suits fingerstyle playing well. The West African Crelicam ebony fretboard has a 15" radius, 20 medium frets, Koa Spiked Ovals inlays outlined in paua, and paua binding. The nut is white TUSQ at 1-3/4".
