Serial Number: K090250
Weight: 7.94 lbs.
Condition: Very Good condition, 2009 model. Guitar shows some light wear. Body shows some swirls and scratches in the clearcoat finish. One small chip in the finish on the back edge of the bass-side cutaway, one near the output jack. Two small dings in the top near arm bevel. Some light fret wear. Some pitting/cloudiness in the finish on the hardware. Aftermarket pickguard, Fender-branded Neck-plate, and Seymour Duncan pickups. CTS pots. Comes with non-original Fender-branded gigbag.

This 2009 Cool Z ZST-1R in 3-Tone Sunburst is a Japanese-made S-style sleeper built in the legendary FujiGen factory in Matsumoto, Nagano — the same workshop behind decades of Fender Japan, Ibanez, and FGN instruments — and was sold new only through Japan's Shimamura Gakki stores as part of the Cool Z home-market house brand. This guitar has solid alder body in gloss 3-Tone Sunburst, at a light, lively 7.94 lb. that balances and hangs beautifully. A well-loved 2009 example in very good condition showing honest, light play wear — some swirls and fine scratches in the clearcoat, a couple of small finish chips near the bass-side cutaway and the output jack, a few dings up near the arm bevel, and some pitting on the hardware.

The maple neck is carved to a comfortable C profile (.820" at the 1st fret, .965" at the 12th) and capped with a rosewood fretboard, white dot inlays, and a 9.5" radius for classic vintage-Strat playability with just a touch more modern grip. Twenty-two medium jumbo frets — showing only light wear — and a 25.5" scale length give you plenty of room to move, while the 1.650" synthetic bone nut keeps things stable up top. Best of all, the bolt-on neck uses FujiGen's contoured heel, so the upper frets are genuinely reachable, and a vintage-style six-saddle tremolo, vintage-style tuners, and nickel hardware round out that traditional S-style feel.

Electronically, this ZST-1R has been treated to some smart upgrades: a full set of Seymour Duncan pickups — single-coils in the neck and middle plus a Hot Rails humbucker in the bridge — wired through premium CTS pots for extra durability and a smooth, musical taper. Running through the standard 1 volume, 2 tone, and 5-way blade layout, you get everything from glassy, quacky single-coil sparkle in the in-between positions to fat, high-output humbucker punch on the bridge — a true HSS spread that covers clean funk, blues, classic rock, and hotter overdriven tones. Whether you're a working musician after a dependable Japanese workhorse, an S-style lover hunting a FujiGen hidden gem, or a collector of hard-to-find Shimamura house-brand pieces, this one delivers. It also wears an aftermarket 3-ply white/black/white pickguard and a Fender-branded neck plate, and ships in a non-original Fender gig bag (Serial #K090250). Order today from Brian's Guitars.
