This 2022 Epiphone Thunderbird 60s Vintage Sunburst bass brings back one of the most recognizable bass silhouettes in rock — the reverse "explorer" body shape first introduced by Gibson in the 1960s — built with Epiphone's neck-through construction for the sustain and resonance that shape is known for. The solid mahogany body is finished in gloss Vintage Sunburst and set off by a multi-ply white pickguard with a Firebird graphic, all sitting on a lightweight-feeling 9.64 lbs. frame despite the substantial body size.

The 7-ply mahogany/walnut neck-through carries a 1960s Rounded profile (.820" at the 1st fret, .945" at the 12th), topped with a laurel fretboard, dot inlays, and a 12" radius across 20 medium jumbo frets and a 24" scale length — a shorter scale that makes for an easier reach without sacrificing low-end punch. A 1.5" synthetic nut leads to period-correct hardware throughout: a 1960s-style TB-Bass Tune-o-Matic bridge with an adjustable 1960s claw tailpiece, and open-gear bass tuners with historic clover buttons in nickel/chrome finish.

Electronics are handled by a matched pair of Epiphone ProBucker Bass 760 humbuckers at neck and bridge, wired to independent neck and bridge volume controls plus a master tone knob for dialing in everything from deep, thumping low-end to a growling midrange bite.
