This used ESP E-II Horizon FR in See Thru Black Cherry Sunburst is built at ESP's Tokyo factory, the line formerly known as ESP Standard and aimed at players who won't compromise on tone, feel, or reliability. An arched quilted maple top sits over a mahogany body with 1-ply white binding, finished in gloss with a matching quilted maple headstock in the same burst — the figure reads clearly through the transparent finish, and the darker outer edges make the flame pop where the light catches it. It weighs 8.62 lbs. This example (Serial #ES1023243) is in excellent condition, with some light scratching in the clearcoat that shows most in the darker areas of the finish and no other notable wear.

The three-piece maple neck is carved to a thin U profile (.790" at the 1st fret, .870" at the 12th) with a satin back for a fast, drag-free feel. The ebony fretboard carries offset block inlays and white binding, with a 305mm (12") radius, 24 extra-jumbo stainless steel frets, a 25.5" scale length, and a 42mm locking nut. Extra-jumbo stainless wire is the combination shredders ask for: it outlasts nickel silver by a wide margin and gives bends a slick, effortless feel, and 24 frets means the top of the neck stays reachable. A Floyd Rose Original bridge handles the tremolo work with Gotoh locking tuners above it, all in black hardware, and ESP strap locks come installed.

The pickup pair is an EMG 66TW in the neck and an EMG 57TW in the bridge, both in brushed black chrome. These are EMG's more open, dynamic actives — tighter and clearer than the classic 81/85 set, with real note separation under gain — and both run push-pull controls for a selectable single-coil mode, which opens up cleans and thinner rhythm tones without swapping guitars. Whether you're a metal or prog player who needs a Floyd-equipped workhorse, a session guitarist covering wide stylistic ground, or a working musician who wants a Japanese-built instrument that stays in tune all night, the Horizon delivers. This ESP E-II Horizon FR (Serial #ES1023243) includes its original ESP E-II form-fitting hardshell case. Order today from Brian's Guitars.
