The Fender '48 Dual Professional JB Edition is a hand-wired, boutique reissue of one of the rarest and most collectible amps in Fender history — the original 1948 Dual Professional, which was never reissued until this Joe Bonamassa-designed edition, and this used 2022 example (Serial #DP0033) puts that legendary V-front tone within reach. The original '48 Dual Pro was the first Fender amp to sport two speakers, and its striking angled "V-front" cabinet and throaty, growling voice made it an early-era Fender icon, equally at home on lap steel or on blues, rock, and country guitar. When avid vintage collector Joe Bonamassa loaned Fender his own prized '48 Dual Pro, the company built this faithful hand-wired tribute to his specifications, capturing the look, feel, tone, and overall vibe of that special vintage amp. It's in very good condition with some honest wear — the tweed shows scuffs, particularly on the lower front panel — and it comes with its cover and the manual.
Hand-made in Corona, California, this reissue is a two-channel, 26-watt tube amp driven by a pair of 6L6 power tubes and voiced through two 10" Celestion JB35 speakers developed for this model. To faithfully replicate the sound and feel of the original amp's now-unavailable octal tubes, Fender specified a special preamp complement — two EF806S pentode preamp tubes plus a small-signal phase-inverter tube — so the reissue nails the throaty midrange and touch sensitivity that made the '48 Dual Pro legendary. The result is an amp that looks, feels, and sounds like a genuine piece of Fender history, built to modern hand-wired standards.
The control layout stays true to the original's simple, musical design: Master Volume, Instrument Volume, and Mic Volume, fed by four 1/4" inputs (Lo Gain, two Instrument, and Mic) that let you blend and match your gain to taste. From shimmering, dimensional cleans to that signature throaty growl when pushed, the '48 Dual Professional JB Edition delivers a tone that's become the stuff of legend among vintage devotees. At a manageable 38 lbs., it's built to gig, record, and be treasured. Whether you're a Joe Bonamassa fan, a collector chasing an unobtainable vintage grail in a hand-wired package, or a pro guitarist after one-of-a-kind Fender tone, this is a rare opportunity (Serial #DP0033). Includes the amp cover and manual. Order today from Brian's Guitars, your authorized Fender dealer.
