This 2020 Fender Custom Shop Artisan Maple Burl Strat in Aged Natural (Serial #CZ553068) puts a 4A maple burl top on a roasted ash body. The burl figure is the centerpiece, and the Aged Natural lacquer finish lets every swirl show through. A 1-ply tortoise pickguard and nickel hardware give it a warm, vintage contrast. It weighs 6.7 lb. This is a used guitar in mint condition, with little to no wear.

The neck is 3A roasted birdseye maple, carved to a '60s-style Oval "C" (.790" at the 1st fret, .930" at the 12th) and finished in nitrocellulose lacquer. The birdseye carries onto the headstock, which wears a Postmodern Strat decal. The rosewood fretboard has mother-of-pearl dot inlays and a 9.5"–12" compound radius, which keeps chords comfortable down low while flattening out for fast, clean soloing up the neck. It holds 21 narrow tall frets on a 25.5" scale, with a 1.650" bone nut. The 4-bolt neck joint gives it the snappy attack you expect from a bolt-on Strat. Hardware includes a vintage-style 6-screw synchronized tremolo with bent saddles and vintage Fender tuners with tortoise buttons.

The pickups are three Fender Custom Shop Fat '60s single-coils. They have a little more output and midrange than a typical vintage set, while keeping the bell-like Strat chime. The controls are one volume, two tones, and a 5-way selector, covering everything from glassy neck tones to quacky in-between positions and a snappy bridge.
