This Used 1999 Fender Custom Shop 1966 Stratocaster Relic in Vintage White is an early Custom Shop build with a detail most Strats of this era don't carry: the neck is stamped "Yamano Mastergrade," marking it as part of a select run destined for Fender's Japanese distributor. Serial #R3767 puts it in the first decade of Custom Shop R-number production. An alder body in Vintage White with a 4-ply tortoise pickguard, at 8.14 lbs. Condition is very good with honest wear — finish checking across the body, a handful of small dings, some discoloration along the back bottom edge, and a headstock decal that's worn in spots. It comes with the Fender Custom Shop Certificate of Authenticity.
The maple neck is carved to a '66 Oval C profile (.815" at the 1st fret, .960" at the 12th) in gloss, bolted on with a 4-bolt joint. A rosewood fretboard with pearloid dot inlays and oversize black side dots sits over a period-correct 7.25" radius, with 21 medium jumbo frets, a 25.5" scale length, and a 1.64" synthetic nut. The vintage radius gives it that rolled, broken-in feel under a chording hand. The large headstock in natural is exactly right for a '66 spec. Hardware is nickel throughout: a Fender vintage-style synchronized tremolo with bent saddles and vintage-style tuners.
Three Custom Shop hand-wound '66 single-coils fill the pickguard, wired to a volume, two tones, and a blade selector. Hand-wound Custom Shop pickups are the difference here — clear, bell-like neck tones, that scooped quack in the between positions, and a bridge pickup with bite and cut instead of thin brittleness. It cleans up off the volume knob the way a good Strat should. Whether you're a blues or classic rock player after mid-'60s Strat voicing, a session guitarist who wants a Custom Shop instrument already broken in, or a collector who understands what a Yamano neck stamp signifies, this one earns the room. This Used 1999 Fender Custom Shop 1966 Stratocaster Relic (Serial #R3767) includes its original Fender hardshell case and Certificate of Authenticity.
