This Fender Custom Shop Limited Edition '60 Roasted Stratocaster in Aged Black is a Heavy Relic build from a Custom Shop limited run, the roasted tonewoods being what sets it apart from a standard '60 reissue. Both the alder body and the quartersawn maple neck are torrefied — roasted to drive out moisture and resins — which lightens the wood, stiffens it, and gives it the drier, more resonant response of an instrument that's been played for decades. At 7.32 lbs. it's light for a Strat. The nitrocellulose finish in aged black is Heavy Relic'd with a nitro brown tortoise shell pickguard and relic'd chrome hardware, and every piece has been worn by hand rather than stamped out. This used example (Serial #CZ540194) is in mint condition, with no wear beyond the factory relic work.

The roasted quartersawn maple neck is carved to a '60 style oval C profile (.790" at the 1st fret, .930" at the 12th) and finished in nitro with amber shellac, bolted on for the snap and attack that construction gives. Quartersawn roasted stock is about as stable as a maple neck gets. The AAA rosewood fretboard carries vintage clay dot inlays, with a 12" radius, 21 jumbo 6100 frets, a 25.5" scale length, and a 1.650" bone nut — that's a modern combination on a vintage-spec guitar, and it's a deliberate one: the flatter board and taller wire make bends effortless where a period-correct 7.25" radius with vintage wire would choke them out. An American Vintage 6-screw bridge with bent saddles and vintage tuners with the Fender logo complete the vintage side, all relic'd to match.

Handwound Poblano single-coils sit in all three positions with a reverse-wound, reverse-polarity middle for hum cancellation in positions two and four. The Poblano set is one of the Custom Shop's most musical winds — clear and chimey with real bloom in the midrange, and enough output to push an amp without losing the glassy top end. Volume, two tones, and a 5-way lever run through Strat Vintage Modified Wiring #2, which gives the bridge pickup its own tone control instead of leaving it wide open. Whether you're a blues or classic rock player after a genuinely light, resonant Strat, a session guitarist who wants Custom Shop quality with modern playability, or a collector chasing a limited run in a spec that doesn't repeat, this one is worth a serious look. This Custom Shop '60 Roasted Strat (Serial #CZ540194) includes its original Fender Custom Shop brown hardshell case, Floor Traveller, and accessories.
