This 2013 Fender Modern Player Telecaster Thinline Deluxe in Transparent Black (Serial #CGF1326566) is a modern take on the ’70s Thinline Deluxe, with P-90-style pickups in place of the original’s humbuckers. The semi-hollow mahogany body is finished in gloss polyester. The Transparent Black lets the mahogany grain show through, and a 3-ply black pickguard keeps the look dark and clean. At 6.2 lb., it’s one of the lightest Telecasters you’ll pick up, and the semi-hollow build adds air and resonance to the classic Tele punch.

The 4-bolt maple neck has a C shape (.855" at the 1st fret, .925" at the 12th fret) with a gloss polyester finish. The maple fretboard has black dot inlays, a 9.5" radius, and 22 medium jumbo frets. Other specs include a 25.5" scale and a 1.650" synthetic bone nut. The bolt-on joint keeps the attack quick and bright. Strings load through the body into a 6-saddle vintage-style hardtail bridge, so each string can be intonated on its own. Vintage-style tuners sit on the Tele headstock, and the hardware is nickel/chrome.

A pair of Fender Modern Player MP-90 single-coils run through 2 volume and 2 tone controls, with a 3-way toggle, the same layout as the ‘72 Thinline Deluxe. The MP-90s have more output and midrange than a standard Tele pickup. You get thick, gritty rhythm tones, warm neck leads, and a raspy edge when you push an amp. With separate volume and tone controls for each pickup, you can balance the two and blend them in the middle position. Whether you’re an indie or alt-rock player who wants P-90 grit, a blues player who wants a light semi-hollow, or a Tele fan looking for something off the standard path, this Thinline Deluxe stands out. This used example is in very good condition, with scratching and swirling in the finish, some small dings, and scratches on the pickguard. A hole from an extra string tree on the headstock has been professionally filled. (Serial #CGF1326566) It comes with a Fender gig bag.
