This used Gibson Custom 1959 Les Paul Standard Reissue in Murphy Lab Light Aged Dirty Lemon is built from laser-scanned dimensions and period-correct materials to closely replicate the original 1959 Les Paul Standard, right down to color-matched sunburst shading and reproduced vintage plastics. The 1-piece lightweight mahogany body with a 2-piece figured maple top is finished in Murphy Lab aged nitrocellulose lacquer, with the Gibson Custom Shop's Murphy Lab artisans hand-applying a light aging treatment to both finish and hardware that simulates decades of natural play wear. At 8.64 lbs., it's a comfortable weight for a Standard-shape Les Paul.
The mahogany neck carries a 50s Rounded Medium C profile (.910" at the 1st fret, .985" at the 12th) with a long-tenon, hide-glue neck joint for maximum wood-to-wood energy transfer, bound in Royalite and topped with an Indian rosewood fretboard, cellulose nitrate trapezoid inlays, and a 12" radius across 22 authentic medium-jumbo frets and the classic 24.75" Gibson scale length. A 1.687" nylon nut leads to Kluson single-line, single-ring tuners in Murphy Lab-aged nickel, and an ABR-1 bridge with nickel-plated brass saddles and a lightweight aluminum stopbar tailpiece delivers period-correct sustain and adjustability.
Electronics come from a pair of unpotted Custombucker 3 humbuckers — left unpotted for a more open, dynamic vintage response — wired with CTS 500K audio taper potentiometers and paper-in-oil capacitors to independent volume and tone controls per pickup and a 3-way toggle selector.
