This Used 2022 Gibson Custom 1961 ES-335 in Sixties Cherry wears the Murphy Lab's Heavy Aged treatment. Tom Murphy's team checks the nitrocellulose, wears the finish, and ages the nickel hardware to replicate sixty years of honest playing. Underneath is a proper '61 ES-335: a 3-ply maple/poplar/maple semi-hollow body with 1-ply Royalite binding, weighing 7.6 lbs. Serial #120197 dates it to 2022. The guitar is in mint condition with little to no non-original wear beyond the factory aging, and it comes complete with case candy and the Gibson Custom Certificate of Authenticity.

The mahogany neck is carved to Gibson's Authentic '61 Skinny C profile (.805" at the 1st fret, .920" at the 12th) in Murphy Lab Heavy Aged nitro, set into the body for the sustain and tonal transfer a 335 depends on. The Skinny C is the fast one — an early-'60s dimension that suits players who work above the 12th fret. An Indian rosewood fretboard with 1-ply Royalite binding and mother-of-pearl dot inlays sits over a 12" radius, with 22 medium jumbo frets, a 24.75" scale length, and a 1 11/16" nylon nut. The headstock carries the mother-of-pearl Gibson logo and crown inlays. Hardware is aged nickel throughout: an ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic bridge, a lightweight aluminum stopbar tailpiece, and Kluson single-line tuners.

The pickups are unpotted Custombuckers with AlNiCo III magnets, the same recipe Gibson uses across its top Historic builds. Unpotted is the detail that matters — the wax-free construction lets the coils breathe and respond the way originals do, with a touch-sensitive, microphonic edge that rewards players who work their volume knob and gets genuinely lively at high gain. Wired to two volumes, two tones, and a 3-way toggle, the range runs from woody, vocal neck-position tones to bridge bite that stays articulate. Whether you're a blues or roots player who wants a vintage-feeling 335 without a vintage price, a working guitarist after an instrument that already looks lived-in, or a collector drawn to Murphy Lab's top aging tier, this one delivers. This Used 2022 Gibson Custom 1961 ES-335 Heavy Aged (Serial #120197) includes its original Gibson Custom hardshell case, the black pickguard, case candy, and the Certificate of Authenticity.
