This 2023 Gretsch Custom Shop G6134-CS Penguin in Sea Foam Green was hand-crafted by Gretsch Masterbuilder Chad Henrichsen — and the Penguin is one of the most sought-after shapes Gretsch has ever produced. A maple top over a mahogany body in relic'd nitrocellulose lacquer, dressed in gold sparkle binding, with a gold Plexiglass pickguard carrying the gold Gretsch logo and the black Penguin. The headstock matches the body in Sea Foam Green with a gold sparkle Gretsch and wings logo, gold sparkle binding, and a matching truss rod cover. At 8.36 lbs. it has the substance you want from a solidbody Gretsch, and this 2023 example is in mint condition with little to no non-original wear beyond the factory relic work. The mahogany neck is a C carve (.845" at the 1st fret, .975" at the 12th) in relic'd nitro, set into the body for sustain and a solid, connected feel. An ebony fretboard with gold sparkle binding and mother-of-pearl thumbnail inlays, 12" radius, 22 medium frets, 25" scale length, and a 1 11/16" bone nut give it that classic Gretsch playing feel — the shorter scale eases string tension for effortless bends and rhythm work.
