Serial Number: 1150850
Weight: 5.08 lbs.
Condition: Very Good condition, 2006 model. Guitar shows some light wear from use. Pickguard show some pick scratches. Top, back, and sides show some light scratches/swirls in the finish. Headstock veneer shows some scratches in the clearcoat. Comes with Martin Hardshell case.
This 2006 Martin DC-Aura pairs solid East Indian rosewood back and sides with a solid Sitka spruce top on Martin's D-14 fret dreadnought cutaway body, delivering the deep, complex low-end and shimmering overtones rosewood dreadnoughts are famous for, with a Venetian cutaway for easy upper-fret access. Hybrid "X" scalloped bracing in Sitka spruce opens up the top's dynamic range, and the guitar is dressed in genuine appointments throughout: white body binding with white/black/abalone purfling, an abalone rosette with multi-stripe rings, and gold-finished hardware. At just 5.08 lbs., it's a surprisingly light dreadnought for the tone it delivers.
The mahogany neck carries Martin's Modified Low Oval profile with High-Performance Taper (.820" at the 1st fret, .890" at the 9th) — a neck shape designed for fast movement up and down the fretboard without sacrificing a full, comfortable feel in the lower positions. It's topped with an ebony fretboard bound in white with purfling, hexagon pearl inlays outlined in abalone, and a 15" radius across 20 frets and a 25.4" scale length. A 1.72" bone nut leads to Martin-branded tuners, while an ebony bridge with abalone hexagon inlays, a compensated saddle, and abalone-inlay bridge pins round out the appointments.
What sets the DC-Aura apart electronically is the Fishman F1 Aura Plus preamp — a genuinely distinctive system that blends the guitar's own onboard pickup with studio-microphone "Images" captured from recordings of world-class guitars in premium studios, letting you dial in a natural, mic'd acoustic tone through the PA without an actual microphone on stage. Controls include volume, the Image multi-band EQ blend, phase, built-in tuner, anti-feedback, and play/edit and measure functions for creating custom tone presets. This particular example is in very good condition for a 2006 model, showing honest player wear (some pick scratches on the pickguard, light scratches and swirls in the finish on the top, back, and sides, and light clearcoat scratching on the headstock veneer) and comes with the original Martin hardshell case. Whether you're a performing singer-songwriter who wants studio-mic'd acoustic tone live, a rosewood dreadnought player chasing that deep, complex low-end, or a Martin collector drawn to genuine appointments and Fishman's most advanced acoustic electronics, this DC-Aura delivers.
