The Matchless Nighthawk Reverb Combo is a hand-wired, 15-watt boutique tube amp that delivers the chimey cleans and aggressive rock bite Matchless is famous for, and this used example (Serial #G00574) is a chance to own that legendary hand-built tone. At the heart of the Nighthawk is an EF86 preamp valve — a prized, high-gain pentode that gives the amp its rich, dimensional, touch-sensitive character — paired with a 12AX7 and a pair of EL84 power tubes for that unmistakable chime-to-crunch response. A 5AR4 tube rectifier adds a musical, springy feel and just the right amount of sag, and the whole amp fires through a single 12" Celestion G12M Creamback 75Hz speaker for a warm, punchy, focused low end. It's in very good condition with some honest light wear — a handful of scuffs and dings in the tolex — on an amp with plenty of tone and life left in it.
