Awesome new features get you even closer to tube amp Nirvana

How do you improve on near-perfection? Well, that's always been the name of the game at Mesa/Boogie, hasn't it? Mesa's taken their Express 5:50, and injected even more perfection. The Express 5:50 Plus features an improved clean mode, with warm, breathing lows, increased sparkle in its highs, and tweaked S/N. You now get Mesa's full-blown Multi-Watt Channel Assignable Power with Duo-Class and Dyna-Watt technologies, letting you run your power tubes in any of three different wattage ratings (5/25/50) per channel - each having its own tone-bending wiring configuration and operating class! Mesa's legendary 5-band graphic EQ is now along for the ride - with additional controls that let you footswitch or auto-assign the EQ sliders or the preset control in each channel. Mesa's performance-juicing solo control is also onboard, giving you an additional footswitchable master output control that lets you preset your ideal amount of volume boost for solos and figures you wish to have additional emphasis - and trigger it on the fly. Lastly, a new 4-button footswitch gives you ready access to channels, reverb, EQ, and solo. Wow. Impressive updates - particularly for an amp many guitar players considered already perfect.

Great Boogie tube tones for all kinds of players

Wouldn't it be great to be able to use the same amazing-sounding amp for stadium gigs, club dates, and in the studio? Thanks to Mesa/Boogie, you can! The Express 5:50 Plus combo features three completely different power configurations, spread across two fully independent channels. Are you a tonal traditionalist? Select clean and blues for your two footswitchable sounds. If you're addicted to gain, choose crunch and burn. Then stand back as the mild-mannered Dr. Jeckyll morphs into the maniacal hardcore beast, Mr. Hyde. Most important is the classic authenticity of all these iconic tones. No matter what your stylistic destination, the express will get you there - fast!

Choose your power section

Up front, the 5-watt setting indicates the low power, single-ended magic of pure Class A. The 25-watt setting gives you medium Class A push-pull output that's ideal for club work. Got an arena gig? Move serious air with the Express 5:50 Plus's 50-watt Class A/B setting. This impressive tonal and volume flexibility is made possible by Mesa/Boogie's Duo-Class and Dyna-Watt technologies that deliver multiple wattages and both single-ended and push-pull configurations in the same amplifier. Very cool.

Mesa/Boogie's high-gain heritage

Mesa/Boogie founder Randall Smith started out modding amps for Bay Area bands in the late 1960s. His clients? The heavies of the San Francisco scene - the Grateful Dead, Jefferson Airplane, Quicksilver, Big Brother, Santana, Steve Miller, Country Joe and the Fish, and many more. Randall's famous hot-rodded Fender Princetons from this era are the stuff of legend: how could a little 15-watt combo get so LOUD? Ever since Randall handbuilt the first Mark I amps in a Northern California mountain shack in in 1971, the name Mesa/Boogie has been a standard-setter in high-gain guitar amplification. Today, guitar greats such as Carlos Santana, Al Di Meola, John Petrucci, Andy Timmons, and Kirk Hammett use the distinctive, versatile voice of Boogie amplifiers to forge their signature sounds. And you can, too.
