This 2024 Nash JM-63 in Black is Bill Nash's take on the 1963 Jazzmaster. The ash body keeps it at 7.38 lbs., and the black nitro over a 4-ply tortoise pickguard is one of the sharpest-looking combinations in the offset world. Nitro finishes are thin enough to let the body move freely, and Nash builds these one at a time with vintage-correct parts throughout. This used example (Serial #BRG-72) is in near-mint condition, with a few light scratches on the body and no other notable wear.
The maple neck is carved to a C profile (.835" at the 1st fret, .945" at the 12th) with the same un-aged nitro finish, bolted on with a 4-bolt joint for the snap and immediacy that construction gives. The rosewood fretboard carries clay dot inlays, with a 12" radius, 21 narrow tall frets, a 25.5" scale length, and a 1.650" Tusq nut — the narrow tall wire makes bending easy without losing the vintage look, and the 12" radius is flatter and more forgiving than a period-correct board. Hardware runs vintage-spec with modern fixes: an adjustable roller bridge with locking saddles solves the string-slip problem offsets are known for, a Jazzmaster tremolo with Buzz Stop keeps break angle over the bridge, and vintage-style tuners in relic nickel finish the job.
A pair of Lollar Jazzmaster single-coils handles the voice — wide, chimey, and full, with the glassy top end and blooming low mids that separate a real Jazzmaster pickup from a soapbar-shaped humbucker.
