This 2024 PRS Employee Artist McCarty 594 in Violet Blue Burst was built by the Private Stock team to commemorate an employee anniversary at PRS, longer tenures unlock access to higher-end options — so each one reflects what a specific person chose to spec after years at the company. This example steps well beyond a Core 594: a one-piece Artist Grade quilt maple top over mahogany, a Violet Blue Burst finish in high-gloss nitro, upgraded inlays, and hand-signed by Paul Reed Smith on the back of the headstock. The mahogany neck is a Pattern Vintage carve (7/8" at the 1st fret, 63/64" at the 12th) in high-gloss nitro, set into the body. An ebony fretboard with a unique variegation in the figuring on the treble side is sandwiched between ivoroid binding, and carries abalone old bird inlays over a 12" radius, with 22 medium jumbo frets and a 1 11/16" synthetic bone nut. The 24.594" scale length is the whole point of the 594 — it sits between Gibson's 24.75" and PRS's own 25", giving the guitar a slinky, forgiving feel with more clarity than a short-scale usually delivers. The headstock is dressed to match: ebony veneer, abalone inlay, and a quilt maple truss rod cover stained in Violet Blue Burst.
