Condition: Excellent condition, 2011 model. Guitar shows some light wear. Handful of swirls and scratches on the body. One small ding on the edge of the back of the body, bass side. Some scratches on the back and backplates. Guitar was sent back to PRS by the original owner and retrofitted for a Floyd Rose tremolo, documentation included. Tuners were swapped to PRS open-gear locking. Comes with original PRS Private Stock Brown Leather hardshell, Private Stock Certificate, and other accessories.

This 2011 Paul Reed Smith Private Stock Dweezil Zappa is #49 of just 50 built, finished in Vintage Gold Burst over a one-piece Private Stock curly maple top on a ribboned mahogany semi-hollow body. Scraped binding, semi-gloss nitrocellulose, and a headstock wearing a Private Stock curly maple veneer with the mother-of-pearl Private Stock eagle and ivoroid binding. At 6.8 lbs. it's remarkably light for a guitar with this much figured wood on it. Serial #178628, Private Stock #3284. Condition is excellent with light wear — a handful of swirls and scratches on the body, one small ding on the bass-side back edge, and some scratches on the back and backplates.

The Private Stock curly maple neck is a Wide Fat carve (7/8" at the 1/2 fret, 61/64" at the 12 1/2 fret) in semi-gloss nitro, set into the body for sustain and a connected feel. A rosewood fretboard with ivoroid binding carries mother-of-pearl bass and treble clef inlays — a signature detail on the Dweezil model — over a 10" radius, with 22 medium jumbo frets, a 25.5" scale length, and a 1.650" synthetic bone nut. The clef inlays and the maple neck are two of the things that make this instrument immediately identifiable as a Private Stock piece rather than a Core model.

One significant modification: the original owner sent the guitar back to PRS, where the Private Stock team retrofitted it with a Floyd Rose locking tremolo, with documentation included.

A pair of 57/08 pickups handles the voice, wired to volume, tone, a 3-way toggle, and Dweezil's out-of-phase switching. The 57/08s are among the most musical humbuckers PRS has produced — clear and vocal in the neck position, with midrange focus and dynamic response at the bridge that stays articulate under gain.
