This 2007 PRS SC245 in McCarty Sunburst is a great example of the singlecut PRS built specifically to chase the great late-'50s tones, and it wears its age well. The carved maple top over a mahogany back is finished in high-gloss nitro with a scraped natural binding line around the edge, the McCarty Sunburst darkening from amber center to deep brown at the perimeter. At 8.76 lbs. it has the heft a singlecut should — that mass is where the sustain and the thick low-midrange authority come from. This one has been played rather than shelved: the finish carries some light swirling and scratching on the body, there's a ding on the top horn of the headstock, and the nickel hardware has gone slightly cloudy with light tarnish. The overall condition is excellent, with its original PRS hardshell case included.
The mahogany neck is carved to the Wide Fat profile (7/8" at the 1st fret, 61/64" at the 12th fret) under high-gloss nitro — the substantial PRS carve, and the one that suits this platform, giving your fretting hand something to push against and adding real wood mass behind the strings. Set-neck construction with a rosewood fretboard, PRS bird inlays, a 10" radius, 22 medium jumbo frets, a 24.5" scale length, and a 1 11/16" nut make for a short-scale singlecut that plays with lower string tension and bends easily. A PRS adjustable stoptail bridge and PRS vintage-style non-locking tuners in nickel keep the vintage-leaning hardware picture consistent.
Electronics are the 245 Bass and 245 Treble pickup set, PRS's dedicated design for this model — voiced deliberately toward the vintage humbucker target, with a warm, thick neck pickup and a bridge that bites without turning brittle. Wired to two volumes, two tones, and a 3-way toggle, it's the classic singlecut control layout that lets you set two distinct sounds and switch between them, or roll back one volume for blended in-between tones. Whether you're a classic-rock or blues player after that late-'50s voice through a PRS lens, a working guitarist who wants a road-ready instrument that's already earned its first scars, or a collector chasing an original-run SC245 from before the model went out of production, this one is the real thing. This PRS SC245 McCarty Sunburst (Serial #119825) includes its original PRS hardshell case. Order today from Brian's Guitars, your authorized PRS dealer.
