This 2017 Paul Reed Smith SE 277 Semi-Hollow Soapbar in Vintage Sunburst (Serial #R04132) is a baritone guitar, set up and tuned to B Standard. Its 27.7" scale, which gives the model its name, is built for lower tunings, and the semi-hollow body and single-coil soapbar pickups keep those low notes clear. The top is maple with a flame maple veneer under a gloss Vintage Sunburst finish, over a mahogany back. PRS’s scraped binding leaves a natural maple edge around the top, framing the burst. It weighs 6.66 lb., so the longer scale doesn’t come with extra weight.

A pair of soapbar single-coils run through volume, tone, and a 3-way toggle. Soapbars give the baritone low end a growl and clarity that humbuckers can smear.
