This used 2016 PRS Wood Library McCarty 594 in Gray Black Fade (Serial #231326) is a Brian’s Limited build, a Wood Library spec chosen by the Brian’s Guitars crew. The 10 Top flamed maple cap sits over a ribbon mahogany back. It’s finished in high-gloss nitro, with the Gray Black Fade burst framed by scraped binding that shows a natural maple edge. This one weighs 7.7 lb.
Instead of the mahogany neck that ships as standard, it’s carved from solid East Indian rosewood, an uncommon Wood Library option prized for its density and warm, focused tone. It uses the Pattern Vintage carve (61/64" at the 1st fret, 63/64" at the 12th fret) with a satin nitro finish, and it’s set into the body. The fretboard and headstock veneer are Brazilian rosewood. Brazilian is highly protected, so ethically sourced Brazilian is scarce. It’s the same fretboard wood found on late-’50s Les Pauls and pre-CBS Fenders. Sparkle mother-of-pearl birds with paua outlines are inlaid in the board, along with faux bone binding, a 10" radius, and 22 PRS frets. The 24.594" scale gives the model its name, with a 1 11/16" bone nut. Hardware is a hybrid finish, with a PRS two-piece stoptail and PRS Phase III locking tuners. The headstock carries an inlaid signature logo and a “McCarty 594” truss rod cover.
The neck position has a PRS 58/15 LT, and instead of the matching 58/15 LT that ships as standard in the bridge, this one is loaded with a 59/09. The result is warm, vintage-voiced cleans up front and a hotter, more aggressive bridge tone. The control layout is 2 volumes, 2 push/pull tones for coil-tapping, and a 3-way toggle, so you can blend and split each pickup on its own.
