This used 2014 PRS Wood Library Paul’s Guitar in Faded Whale Blue (Serial #212081) is based on the personal guitar Paul Reed Smith built for himself, and this Wood Library example adds rare tonewoods to that design. The 10 Top flamed maple cap sits over a mahogany back, finished in high-gloss nitro. Scraped binding leaves a natural maple edge around the Faded Whale Blue top. This one weighs 7.8 lb.
The neck is East Indian rosewood, a Wood Library upgrade that’s denser and heavier than mahogany, with a warm, focused voice. It has the Pattern carve (7/8" at the 1st fret, 61/64" at the 12th fret), a satin nitro finish, and a set-neck joint. The fretboard and headstock veneer are Brazilian rosewood, the wood found on many late-’50s Les Pauls and pre-CBS Fenders. Because Brazilian is highly protected, ethically sourced stock is hard to come by, which makes a Brazilian board a sought-after spec on any PRS. The board is inlaid with sparkle mother-of-pearl birds outlined in paua and has a 10" radius and 22 PRS frets. The scale is 25", and the nut is 1 11/16". Hardware has a hybrid finish, with a PRS stoptail and PRS Phase III locking tuners with brass buttons. The headstock carries PRS’s inlaid signature logo.
Paul’s Guitar humbuckers are made specifically for this model, and they sit in both positions. Controls are volume, tone, and a 3-way toggle, plus 2 mini-toggles that coil-tap each pickup on its own. That gives you full humbucker tones, single-coil sounds in either position, and mixed combinations in the middle. Whether you’re a blues player who wants vintage-style humbucker warmth, a session player who needs a wide range of sounds from one instrument, or a PRS collector looking for a Wood Library Paul’s Guitar with a rosewood neck and Brazilian board, this one is worth a close look. It’s in excellent condition, with only light scratches and swirling in the body finish. This Paul’s Guitar (Serial #212081) comes with its original PRS brown paisley hardshell case.
